‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Trailer Brings Back A Few Familiar Faces.
I’m a few days late with this one. Such is life, but I need to post about it anyway. The new trailer for I Know What You Did Last Summer has dropped, and naturally, I had to stop everything and watch it. I’m loving the 90s resurgence at the moment.
Let’s just get this out of the way first. Brandy is not in it. I repeat. No Brandy! There was this part that held out on the hope that in resurrecting the franchise, they would have brought back Brandy’s wise-cracking character alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr.
The trailer does bring the drama. It’s moody, there’s blood, there’s guilt and a new generation of hot twenty-somethings being killed off for their poor life choices. The story remixes the original premise. Deadly secrets and summer regrets. The old fisherman slasher vibe but with a modern twist. But the question remains. Do we need this? More importantly, will this generation respect the sacred art of running from danger in heels while wearing denim that’s one size too small? Because if you’re not screaming while serving a look, are you even surviving?
Nostalgia is powerful. Especially when you get to my age. I’ll watch this at the cinema with popcorn in one hand and a choc top in the other. But if at least one character doesn’t dramatically shout, “What are you waiting for, huh?!”” at some point, I’ll riot.
Hopefully, the film will kick off the franchise once more and open the door to bringing back Brandy in the near future. Because if not, it is such a missed opportunity.
What did you think of the trailer?
