The 2025 Super Bowl trailers were meh!

Every year, I get excited for the Super Bowl. Not for the game (I have no idea who’s playing), but for the trailers! Unfortunately, this year left a lot to be desired.

Hollywood studios spend millions to promote their upcoming movies during the Super Bowl, and 2025 was no exception. With Walt Disney Studios, Paramount Pictures, and Universal Pictures behind some of the year’s most anticipated films, I expected something spectacular.

While I usually have no clue who won the Super Bowl, I generally look forward to sharing the latest trailers. But this year? Most were just TV spots for trailers we’d already seen or ones that were “coming soon.” Very few offered new footage from what should be some of the biggest movies of the year.

Take Disney, for example. There were rumours we’d finally get a proper look at the Lilo & Stitch live-action remake. Instead, we got a short clip of Stitch running across a football field, causing chaos. Cute, sure, but not actual footage from the movie. After 23 years, Disney is still using the same marketing tactics they used for the original animated film.

Then there was Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Paramount at least unveiled all-new footage, but honestly, it was the one movie I was least interested in. I tuned out of that franchise years ago.

The three films I was most excited about were Jurassic World: Rebirth, M3GAN 2.0, and How to Train Your Dragon. Which ended up being the biggest disappointment.

Jurassic World Rebirth’s TV spot was just a shortened version of the trailer released a few days ago. M3GAN 2.0? Same teaser trailer we saw nearly a week ago. And while How to Train Your Dragon did include a few new clips, it mostly recycled footage, with the main takeaway being a new trailer is coming later this week.

So yes, I’m on my soapbox. This year’s Super Bowl trailers kinda sucked. For many movie fans, the Super Bowl isn’t just about touchdowns, it’s about the hype for the year’s biggest films. But this year, instead of jaw-dropping reveals, we got a whole lot of unnecessary regurgitation.

Anyways, if you’ve made it this far, here they all are below
