The ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ trailer is here!
I must admit that I have a guilty pleasure for all things Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. Consequently, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the day we finally get a proper look at the latest addition to the franchise, Jurassic World Rebirth.
As soon as I heard Garth Edwards, the director behind Godzilla and Rogue One, would be at the helm, I felt a glimmer of hope that the franchise might finally return to its more terrifying roots.
Although we still have to wait until its July 2nd release date, the recently released trailer gives us a glimpse into what fans can expect from this latest instalment in the franchise.
Jurassic World Rebirth occurs after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, where the dinosaurs have been roaming freely in the wild. However, in the years between the films, many of these magnificent creatures have retreated to remote islands near the equator, where the climate remains favourable for their survival. A team of experts is dispatched to one such island to retrieve DNA samples that could potentially lead to the development of a cure for human heart disease.
David Koepp, the original screenwriter behind Jurassic Park and The Lost World, returns to pen the new screenplay for Jurassic World: Rebirth. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Ed Skrein, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.
Check out the official film synopsis below for those interested in a more detailed synopsis.
“Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates reminiscent of the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind. Academy Award nominee Johansson portrays Zora Bennett, a skilled covert operations expert contracted to lead a team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs.”
When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinosaurs, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they make a sinister and shocking discovery that has been concealed from the world for decades.”
It was also recently revealed that a sequence from Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park cut from the 1993 film is being used in this movie. A particular shot of a Tyrannosaurus Rex in the trailer excites me a lot. If you’ve read the book, you’ll know exactly which scene I’m referring to.
So, what are your thoughts on the trailer?
